The South Carolina Department of Transportation says it has improved the agency’s system to get traffic information out to drivers.
The DOT says its new 511 Traveler Information System includes traffic camera images, travel time estimates, interactive maps of traffic incidents, weather information and average traffic speeds.
The system will operate all the time and can be accessed with a computer, tablet or smartphone at www.511sc.org. Or the DOT says drivers can call 511 before a trip or have a passenger call if they need road information.
The SC DOT also has four Twitter feeds to report incidents in the Lowcountry, Pee Dee, Midlands or Piedmont.
